If you don’t own a sled or don’t want to haul it, you’ll need to find a snowmobile rental in Michigan. While we don’t have any available at Garland Lodge, our helpful staff will help you choose a northern Michigan snowmobile rental shop. But, besides the snowmobile, there are a few other things you’ll need, according to the Safe Riders! Snowmobile Safety Awareness Program:
- Waterproof boots
- Cap and helmet
- Warm, moisture-wicking socks
- Warm, layered clothing
- Waterproof gloves
- Scarf, facemask, or both
- Fully-charged cell phone
- Cash and license
- Food, such as energy bars, and water
- Compass, map, and GPS
- Spare keys
- Matches and other fire-starting tools
- Bright flashlight
- Small shovel
- Strobe light or flares
- If riding on frozen water, carry ice picks
- Snowmobile repair kit (often provided by the manufacturer)
- First aid kit
